Creating a Welcoming Home

Create a Welcoming Home

To create a welcoming home you need to think about three of the senses; sight, smell and feel.

Having a clean and tidy home is only one part of making your home feel welcoming. This is however a large part. To take a look at my cleaning schedules to always ensure your home is clean and tidy in case you have unexpected guests Click Here
Smell is very important in creating a welcoming feel in your home. There is nothing nicer than stepping into a home that smells wonderful and nothing worse than having to spend time in a bad smelling home. If your house is clean and you have got rid of any underlying bad smells the next step is to create a wonderful smell. There are many air freshners available. Creating a welcoming feel is all about warmth and added those little added extras.

Warmth does not only apply to the temperature in your home it also applies to decoration. If your home is too sparsly decorated it may not feel welcoming even if you have followed all of th other advice here. For decoration tips take a look at out decoration tips section with sample rooms.

Those added extras that really bring warmth to a house and make it a home are fresh flowers and tastefull ornaments. Keeping your home stocked with fresh flowers is often less expensive than people think. Many bunches of flowers will last for two weeks if fed and watered properly and you can pick these up relatively cheaply. Take a look at my fresh flowers and ornaments pages.
